CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

Cahaba Heights United Methodist Church provides a variety of ministries for, with and by children.  We have promised "to so order our lives after the example of Christ that these children, surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal."  Children are important members of our family and we endeavor to involve them in all aspects of family life.

Sunday School classes are held each Sunday at 9:45 a.m.  These classes are staffed by teaching teams who help young children know more about God, themselves and their relationship with others.

Currently there are classes for the following groups:
  Preschool                       (2 and 3 year olds)
  Kindergarten  I and II   (4 and 5 year olds)
  Elementary     I and II   (grades 1 and 2)
  Elementary  III and  IV (grades 3 and 4)
  Elementary   V and  VI  (grades 5 and 6)
 Our nursery has one class for Infants (crib babies and crawlers) and one class for  Toddlers (walkers).
 After Sunday School Class, the teacher will take the preschool Class (2 and 3 year old) children to the nursery.

ACOLYTES
 3rd through 6th graders are eligible to serve as acolytes after receiving instruction.

SUMMER PROGRAM
 A well-rounded summer program is always planned for the children.  Programs may include:  Vacation Bible School, weekly summer fun days and field trips.

YOUTH MINISTRY  (Suanne Chapman Center)

9:45 a.m. There are Church School classes in the Youth Division for 6th - 12th grades.  Our United Methodist Youth Fellowship meets each Sunday evening, at 5:00 p.m.  They have supper followed by a program and recreation.  Activities during the year for our youth include:  Summer Camps at Sumatanga, trips to Six Flags, an annual ski trip, an annual trip to Florida, and fund raisers.
 Our youth are a vital part of our church they are NOT the church of tomorrow but an important part of the church TODAY.

WOMEN'S BIBLE CLASS
Teacher:   Doris Collins
Location:  Near end of hall toward children's area
Ladies, no age limit.  Lecture type class discussion using Adult Bible Series.

WALTON MEMORIAL SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS
Teacher:   Dick Humphrey
Location:  Corner by the kitchen
Follow adult Bible Series teaching primarily from the Bible.

NEW BEGINNINGS SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS
Teachers:  John McQueen and Frances Stewart
Location:  Parlor
This class follows the Adult Bible Series.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS
Teachers:  Dick Johnson
Location:  Conference room downstairs near church office
This class uses a variety of study series with a lot of discussion led by the teachers.

TRINITY CLASS
Teachers:  Richard Barrow
Location:  Last room on the left going toward children's area
This is a class of all ages.  We use a variety of lesson books as a guide for discussion.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS
Teacher:   Lisa Busby
Location:  Classroom is upstairs in midway down main hallway
This is a class for the ages 30+.

FAITH BUILDERS (Young and middle adults)
Teacher:  Vicki Knapp
Location: Last room on left at end of hallway - main level near children's classes

YOUNG ADULTS
Teachers: Josh and Kaysie Cumbee
Location: Fellowship Hall (next to Kitchen)
This class is for those in their 20's +/-
