Worship
Cahaba Heights United Methodist is a happy church, an active church, a singing church. Adult, youth and children's choirs, along with handbells and instrumentalists fill these curving arches with joyful noise. There is a special time for children in our worship each Sunday, and "Children's Church" is offered during a portion of our regular worship hour. Scout Sunday, Youth Sunday, Children's Sunday, Student Recognition Sunday and Preschool Sunday are observed each year, focusing on the gifts and needs of our young people. Our services are a satisfying blend of tradition and innovation. We recognize the importance of our Protestant and Wesleyan heritages. We regularly celebrate Baptism and Holy Communion. Our members delight in keeping that Wesleyan heritage alive through hymns and studies in the Methodist tradition. Our staff and worship committee are constantly vigilant that our services not become staid and stale. The milestone events of the Christian year are especially precious worship opportunities for our congregation. Advent brings new ideas and anticipation through our family worship time. Christmas is celebrated with carols, candles, and Communion. Lent is a period of reflection, including Ash Wednesday and special Holy Week services. The culmination of all of our worship is in the glorious Easter mornings we experience here together. Beginning with a Youth-led sunrise service in the prayer garden and continuing through Easter Morning Service, our church seems to bursts with our gathered family members and with the message which is truly our purpose for being - "HE IS RISEN!" It is indeed this Easter message which we seek to bring to the world as a part of Christ's Church, binding us and carrying us through all our worship at Cahaba Heights United Methodist Church..
